A Great Impact
After the treaty was signed at the end of World War I, many within the Ottoman Empire were left angered and embittered. The Treaty of Sevres was extremely harsh. It divided an Empire up among the Allied Forces; the Ottoman's enemy. Britain took control of Palestine and France possessed Syria, Lebanon, and land in Southern Anatolia. Armenia was recognized as a separate state, as well. Smyrna was given authorization to take control of Greece. Also, the treaty failed to deal with the issue of Kurdistan, many of the Kurdish people were forced into other areas of Turkey and others to northwestern Iraq. Some are now considered Iraqis. Financially, the Ottoman Empire was restricted to the terms of its new economic power. The Allies had control over the Ottoman Bank, imports and exports, the tax system, and the national budget.
Today, the effects of the Treaty of Sevres still has a lasting impression. It allowed the Europeans to shape the borders of the now independent nation states. Most of the borders in the Middle East today are so, due to the events surrounding this important Historical period at the end of WWI.

Conflict Between Israel and Palestine: A Conflict With the Kurdish People and Surrounding States.
The impact of the Treaty of Sevres and other connected treaties within the Middle East can be seen today. For example the conflict between Palestine and Israel. One of the factors that corresponds to this conflict is the fight over Jerusalem and its border line. This conflict exists, in part, due to the impact the Treaty of Sevres and the Balfour Declaration had on the Middle East. Authorizing Britain's occupation in Palestine and allowing an establishment of Jewish settlement is something that is hotly debated even still. Due to this arrangement both groups have been and are still in conflict with one another. The fight to establish a Kurdish state is also a controversial subject. When the Treaty of Sevres was put into action, Britain integrated a portion of Kurdistan into Iraq, following yet another portion being integrated into Syria under French control. Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the leader of Turkey, united a large portion of Kurdistan into Turkey. Moreover, since the treaty was signed there has be a large scale of conflict throughout Kurdistan; a conflict that is present today.
